Tentoonstelling tastbare mode Michelangelo Winklaar in Escher in Het Paleis

Ter ere van The Hague Fashionweek organiseert Escher in Het Paleis een tentoonstelling met aanraakbare mode van de Nederlands-Curacaose ontwerper Michelangelo Winklaar.
Geïnspireerd door zijn slechtziende moeder ontwikkelt Winklaar een experimentele expositie waarbij hij blinden en slechtzienden een modecollectie laat ervaren door middel van tast. Waar een modecollectie in een museum vooral niet aangeraakt mag worden, nodigt Winklaar het publiek uit hun tastzin te gebruiken. Zijn collectie is niet alleen bedoeld om te bekijken, maar juist ook om te voelen.
Kenmerkend voor het werk van Winklaar zijn de vrouwelijke vormen, textuur en het gebruik van ambacht en handwerk. Ook duurzaamheid is belangrijk voor hem, zo gebruikt hij graag materiaal dat gezien wordt als restmateriaal uit de textielindustrie.
Winklaar laat zich voor deze tentoonstelling inspireren door M.C. Escher en Paleis Lange Voorhout, waarin het museum zich bevindt.
De tentoonstelling sluit aan bij de missie van Escher in Het Paleis om actief inclusief te zijn voor doelgroepen die wellicht minder geneigd zijn een museum te bezoeken. Niet alleen blinde en slechtziende bezoekers zullen van Winklaars collectie kunnen genieten, ook ziende bezoekers krijgen de kans om mode op een geheel nieuwe manier te ontdekken.

In honor of The Hague Fashion Week, Escher in Het Paleis organizes an exhibition with Touchable Fashion of the Dutch-Curacaoan designer Michelangelo Winklaar.
Inspired by his visually impaired mother, Winklaar is developing an experimental exhibition in which he will in which he allows blind and visually impaired people to experience a fashion collection by touch. While a fashion collection in a museum should not be touched, Winklaar invites the public to use their sense of touch. invites the public to use their sense of touch. His collection is not only meant to be looked at, but also to be felt. but also to feel.
Characteristic for Winklaar's work are the feminine forms, texture and the use of craftsmanship and handicraft. craft and handicraft. Sustainability is also important to him, as he likes to use material that is considered residual material from the textile industry.
For this exhibition Winklaar is inspired by exhibition he was inspired by M.C. Escher and the Lange Voorhout Palace, where the museum is located.
The exhibition is in line with the mission of Escher in Het Paleis to be actively inclusive target groups that may be less inclined to visit a museum.
